WORLD ROBOTICS TOURNAMENT
Our Robotics team has returned from the the World Tournament.  They placed 40th out of 90, were the finalist for 2 awards, and received the Amaze Award which is a runner up to the World Champion Award. This is given to a team with a well built robot, a thought out strategy, interview quality, and overall high performing team.  Only 9 awards were handed out among 90 teams and we received one of them and were a finalist for another. Congratulations! View story on PWCS website.

TRIANGLE ELEMENTARY DESIGNATED 2014 SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE

Our students have the distinction of attending a newly named PWCS School of Excellence. This is the 3rd consecutive year Triangle Elementary earned the coveted title.

School of Excellence is the highest recognition awarded to schools by the PWCS School Board. It signifies high levels of performance on state accreditation, Annual Measurable Objectives, and in moving toward the goals of the Division’s Strategic Plan.

Congratulations to everyone who helped to earn this important indicator of student success.

RAZ KIDS READING PROGRAM
Triangle Elementary has subscribed to an online library of exciting reading materials. Raz-Kids helps students improve their reading skills as they listen to a book read for modeled fluency. Then, if the computer has a built-in record function, they can record themselves reading the same book. Or, students can read the book to themselves or aloud for practice. Interactive quizzes are available at the end of each book to check for understanding. It is not necessary for students to record themselves but if they have the capability that is always a great way to improve fluency.

Here is how to access the website and your child’s reading assignment from any computer connected to the Internet:

1. Go to www.raz-kids.com from your Internet browser and click the Log In tab .
2. Type in the teacher username and click  the green GO arrow.
3. Find your name on the chart and click on that.

The books in assigned to your child’s based on his or her independent reading level appear on his or her personal assignment page. Your child should choose to listen, read, and then take a quiz by clicking on the symbols below each book.
IXL MATH

Triangle Elementary is excited to provide all students with an IXL account. IXL is a comprehensive, SOL based math program that students can use at school AND at home! This is a wonderful way to support math instruction at home!!

Students can earn awards and parents can look at student progress reports. Please encourage your student to use IXL as often as possible. To access your account, go to Triangle’s homepage at  www.ixl.com/signin/triangle. There students can enter their username and password. If your learner is not sure of his/her login information please contact the homeroom teacher or Mrs. Adams at adamslj@pwcs.edu.

FAMILY LIFE EDUCATION NOTIFICATION TO PARENTS

The parent letter/opt-out form is part of the PWCS student "Code of Behavior & Forms." Objectives by grade level are posted on the Science and Family Life Education Web page  (choose the Family Life Education button). Parents should visit the site and review the objectives for their child's grade level or course. Parents may exercise opt-out for any of the FLE sensitive content by returning the opt-out form to the appropriate teacher any time during the school year but preferably within the first month of school.
