In an effort to provide information about Standards of Learning (SOL) test performance to parents and guardians in a timelier fashion, PWCS will be sending SOL score reports home with students prior to the end of the school year. Please note that, if your student tests later in the testing window, information related to their performance may not be available at the time score reports are generated. If your student participates in SOL testing this spring and you do not receive a report for a test they were administered, please contact your student’s school and they can provide you with information about your student’s performance.

TRIANGLE ROBOTICS
One of our three Robotics teams returned from competing in the World Championships in Louisville, KY. Teams came from all over the world to compete.  This team finished 36th out of 148 elementary teams.  They also secured a spot on the World Playoffs by finishing in the top 40.  This is the first time a team from TES made it that far. Congratulations on a GREAT season!

IXL MATH

Triangle Elementary is excited to provide all students with an IXL account. IXL is a comprehensive, SOL based math program that students can use at school AND at home! This is a wonderful way to support math instruction at home!!

Students can earn awards and parents can look at student progress reports. Please encourage your student to use IXL as often as possible. To access your account, go to Triangle’s homepage at  www.ixl.com/signin/triangle. There students can enter their username and password. If your learner is not sure of his/her login information please contact the homeroom teacher or Mrs. Boland.

RAZ KIDS READING PROGRAM

Triangle Elementary has subscribed to an online library of exciting reading materials. Raz-Kids helps students improve their reading skills as they listen to a book read for modeled fluency. Then, if the computer has a built-in record function, they can record themselves reading the same book. Or, students can read the book to themselves or aloud for practice. Interactive quizzes are available at the end of each book to check for understanding. It is not necessary for students to record themselves but if they have the capability that is always a great way to improve fluency.

Here is how to access the website and your child’s reading assignment from any computer connected to the Internet:

1. Go to www.raz-kids.com from your Internet browser and click the Log In tab .
2. Type in the teacher username and click  the green GO arrow.
3. Find your name on the chart and click on that.

The books in assigned to your child’s based on his or her independent reading level appear on his or her personal assignment page. Your child should choose to listen, read, and then take a quiz by clicking on the symbols below each book.
